Paul has been executive director and CEO of The Virginia Bar Association since September 2021. Before that, he was for many years the publisher and editor-in-chief of Virginia Lawyers Weekly. A graduate of the Washington & Lee University law school, he practiced law in Southwest Virginia for three years before joining the paper. In 2015-16, he was the national president of the Society of Professional Journalists, the largest and broadest-based press organization in the United States.
Teresa Wray

Teresa brings to the team broad experience in marketing and professional services. Initially charged with enriching the VBA member experience as Director of Membership, in 2025 Teresa led the effort to identify and implement a new association management system, including a more member-focused website. Now as Deputy ED, Teresa is honored to support VBA volunteer leaders in developing programs to deliver tangible value across Virginia’s legal community. A member of the Virginia State Bar, Teresa earned her JD and MBA degrees from Southern Methodist University. She also chairs the national bylaws committee of NABE, the association for bar professionals.
Laura-Grace Brown

Laura-Grace joined the VBA in October 2024. She oversees the events team and is responsible for planning and organizing VBA conferences, educational meetings, webinars and other events. Laura-Grace also provides programming assistance to the VBA’s sections, committees and divisions. Before joining the VBA, she held a variety of events and customer service roles. She most enjoyed managing a store at lululemon athletica, developing special programs for the William & Mary Alumni Association, and planning events at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business. Alongside these endeavors, she has maintained a private practice in yoga instruction and health coaching.
Isabel Lunato

Since joining the VBA in April 2022, Isabel has played a key role in enhancing membership services and supporting the association’s marketing initiatives. As Membership Specialist, she maintains membership data and operations and contributes to engagement initiatives that keep members informed and connected. She also supports a range of marketing and communication efforts — from targeted outreach to strengthening the VBA’s brand voice — that reinforce member connection and the overall member experience.
Sunni O'Brien
Events Coordinator

Sunni joined the VBA in April 2022. She supports the planning and execution of all VBA events as well as the programming and projects of the VBA’s sections, committees and divisions. Previously, Sunni worked remote contract positions at Biotechnology Innovation Organization and the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association as a virtual event planning assistant and membership administrative assistant, respectively. She graduated from The College of William and Mary with a B.A. in Classical Archaeology and a B.A. in Art History.
Troy Ross

Troy handles all financial reporting and accounting transactions for the VBA. Before joining the VBA, he held the position of senior accountant at two CPA firms. Troy also has worked for a hotel development and management company, MCV Hospitals, AMF Bowling and the State Corporation Commission. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in accounting and passed the CPA exam in 1992.
