Who we are
The Virginia Bar Association is a voluntary statewide group dedicated to upholding the Rule of Law, to improving the practice of law in Virginia and to promoting impartial access to justice in Virginia communities through advocacy and service.
And we also are dedicated to helping our members become both better lawyers and better people. We challenge them to strive for their personal best in ethics, leadership, service and collegiality.
It’s no surprise that nearly half of this year’s inductees to the Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame are VBA members. If you want to find yourself among Virginia's recognized leaders in our profession, and if you’re looking for genuine connections with authentic people who care about the law like you do, then you belong in the VBA.

The VBA Board of Governors
The VBA Board of Governors is a highly engaged group of volunteer leaders working together to establish the association’s policies and then steer programs and projects toward our goals. The Board has an Executive Committee of seven officers (two of them from our Young Lawyers Division) plus up to 17 regional, at-large and specialty representatives. The judiciary, law schools, legislators and government lawyers always have a seat at our table alongside large and small firm practitioners alike.
