VBA Committee Will Review Submissions from Candidates for SCC Vacancy

Governor Kaine has announced that he intends to fill the current vacancy on the State Corporation Commission.  As part of his process for the review of candidates for this position, the Governor is accepting expressions of interest from persons who are qualified to serve on the Commission and has stated that he will “also consider information and recommendations on qualified individuals to fill this vacancy from the statewide bar associations of the Commonwealth.” 

The Committee on Nominations to Virginia Commissions and Appellate Courts of The Virginia Bar Association will consider submissions from interested persons for the purpose of making a recommendation to Governor Kaine with respect to the vacancy.  Candidates are asked to submit copies of the material requested by the Governor, other than the statement of economic interest, to the VBA by May 19, preferably in electronic form to guytower@vba.org.   The Committee will not conduct personal interviews with candidates.  Click here for a copy of the Governor’s announcement, including items required to be provided with expressions of interest in the vacancy.
